axle upgrade?
I am wondering what would be the best axle upgrade i have a 95 cherokee 6.5" lift bushwacker cut out flares on 33x12.5s i am wanting to run 35x12.5s and i know my dana 35 wont hold alot of people tell me the dana 30 up front will hold to it , i dont bounce my truck on rocks and im not into extreme rock crawling. I was wondering if a 8.25/ dana 30 setup would work if i didnt lock the front end or if i would be better off doing the dana 44s front/rear? all opinions help even negative ones thanks for help in advance

I dunno about you but I wouldn't upgrade to bigger u-joints on a stock shaft. I rather have the weak point being the u-joints themselves. Something's gotta give under extreme stress and i rather it be u-joints than axle shafts.

thanks for the replys i was definantly going to regear with 4.88s and upgrade the axle shafts in the dana 30, so definantly go wit dana 44? i dont want to do the ford 8.8 rear then i have to mess with a proportioning valve and all that for disk brakes. like i said i dont romp on my xj i know its limits and im not dumb enough to bounce it on rocks.

the upgrade he is referring to is upgrading to the spicer 5-760x u joint on 95+ shafts originally equipped with the spicer 297x u joints.
the 760's are slightly stronger and you have the option of full circle clips that go on the inside of the shafts.
you just need to grind down the inside of each ear flat, not too difficult.

9.68 times out of 10 when a u joints goes it will take out the ears on the shafts anyway.
