axle wrap issue...
First off let me thank anyone who responds to this in advance.
i just changed my brakes yesterday and on the test drive, my buddy noticed something i had never noticed. today, another buddy found the problem but we havent pin ponted the cause.
the problem is when you shift from nuetral to drive the rear axle twist up about 1-1.5". to start and keep it simple, i ordered new u-bolts. next thing i know i need is a slip yoke. my question here is: running a 3" lift with full spring packs, do i need a SYE or do i stay with an OEM slip yoke. reason i'm asking is because on the output shaft on the back of the TC, there is about an inch of spline showing. Is this normal? Also, could this be because of a set of weak springs? should i be running a longer drive shaft? i will get a pic posted later on the output shaft and the splines. thanks again.

I would just get it over with and get a SYE. It will solve a lot of future problems that you may encounter. As for your axle wrap im not sure that it is your DS causing this.

Axle wrap, in my experience. has always been associated with either lots of horsepower or weak springs. Don't know which is the case for your application.
As to the SYE, I would buy it and install it if you need it and resell it if you don't think you will ever go higher. You will surely need it above the 3" of lift height.
At 3" each individual jeep is a different animal. Some will vibrate your butt off while others are as smooth as a baby's butt. The newer the Jeep the more they will need a SYE at a lower lift height.

Some axle wrap is normal on leaf spring vehicles and is one of the reasons 4 links are so popular. I'll take a look at mine in the light tommorrow and see if I get the same amount of movement. Your brake job come out ok bud?

ok now another question. what is the life of springs. i have these for about 3 years and i would say 80% road 20% trail.

I would say it probably depends on the maker of the spring and how much they are flexed. I know 2 guys locally that have Rubicon full packs and after a couple of years they are sagged. Theres are DD's and wheel about like you.

This is a little off topic but how are your bumpstops? are they set for 3" lift? Sometimes jeepers neglect upgrading their bumpstops and overcompress their springs which weakens them overtime.
Might want to look over the packs real good and make sure there's no broken leaf springs in there. Sometimes they are hard to see.
My guess would be weak springs. Pro-comp isn't known for putting out the greatest springs.

Fire roads or rock climbing trails like Tellico or Katemcy or Moab. Then if they were fire roads/trails then maybe 8-10 years but the other trails would eat springs in a couple of years. Flexing and crawling are real rough on springs.
