Back Up Lights
Anyone mounted some aux. backup lights on their xj? I was looking at these for that purpose.

My real question is, is there a way to wire these up so that they are switched on when the jeep is put in reverse and also have a switch to turn them on at other times? i.e. being tailgaited by a jerk with brights on.
I plan to mount them on the rear bumper to either side of the hitch. Good idea or not?

That's what I did... I tried to wire mine into the stock rear lights wiring, but ran into issues with them not being very bright and blowing the fuse. I just left mine on a manual switch and only use them when I need them. Granted I needed mine due to after market bumper covering the stock reverse lights and spending lots of time out in the country and needing the light so I didn't run over anything.
Mine are just some cheep lights from Wallyworld. I think I spent around $15 on the, and then another $5 on wire.

if you use a relay from your reverse lights to signal power to your "new" reverse ights than you wont be tripping fuses and you wont have to mess with putting the "new" lights on a switch and forgeting to turn them off.
Just an idea for you that I have used before.
