Back up lights stuck on
My '92 Cherokee Limited's back-up lights are on 24/7. The guy at the electrical shop says its the sender in the transmission and that Jeep doesn't make it any more. He and I have no idea what to do to get the thing fixed. Anyone with any ideas on how to get this fixed????
Thanks

Dude, this is an easy one. Find a XJ in a Junkyard that has the automatic tranny in it and grab the Nuetral Safety Switch off of it. Look where the shift linkage goes into the tranny on the driver's side. There is a shaft that goes to through the tranny to the passenger side. You will find the (NSS) there. It is a pie wedge shaped thing with an electrical connector going to it. The Nuetral safety switch is what allows your jeep to only start on P or N. It also turns on your back up lights when you shift into R. Actually, take the NSS off of your jeep and open it up and clean it really well. That alone may fix your problem. Hope this helps.
