Default Bad pinion seal?

Well yesterday i parked facing down hill and left it in gear. I came back probably 1 hour to 2 hours later and found a small puddle of gear oil in the street. It was weird because it never leaks when on level ground but im assuming more pressure is put on it when left in gear on a hill?

Mine does this when parked down a hill. I took it to my local jeep dealership and they told me that I needed a new pinion and yolk.

My jeep dealership said it'll cost $300 for a new pinion, yoke, fluid change, and all the labor

Not a difficult job to do,, remove drive shaft, tie up out of the way, remove large nut on front of yoke, I use impact wrench. count number of threads exposed before removing nut and mark with a punch, use screw driver to remove seal. Do not scratch up the pinion shaft. install new seal, $16.00 at Napa, use large socket to tap lightly on seal or tap directly on seal using light touch and never in same place twice. put red RTV on out side of seal before installing and oil the rubber seal good. After seal is bottomed out install yoke sliding it on to the pinon shaft carefully, use oil on out side of yoke to prevent premature wear of the oil seal. Reinstall nut, or buy new recommended by dealer, to previous number of threads plus !/16 of a turn more, NO More. reconnect driveshaft. Should take 1 to 2 hours depending on your skills. I do mine in 45 minutes.. But I've done several over the years. Check fluids and top off if needed. Should be good to go.
