Bad Pulley-Please help me to identify...

Buy a new serp belt. It's cheap enough, just replace it. As for Gates vs. GY gatorback, get the GY belt. While the belt is off, check every pulley and component the belt touches. They should spin freely, not wobble, or feel like anything is grinding inside. If any of them do not spin freely, wobble or feel like it's grinding, replace that component. Once you have verified proper operation of your pulleys, and eliminated any bad components, Put the belt back on, make sure you route it properly, and adjust the tension. SteveM and Firestorm have already given this info. This is the correct way to noggin poke this problem.

I loosened the tension and now I don't hear anything. I'm going through the trouble shooting, but I have to go to work soon.

Took the belt off and checked all the pulleys. Everything checks out fine. Got her running without the belt, no noise yet but there also wasn't any noise once I loosened the belt. Now look at this belt, it looks great but I'm checking to see where to buy the GY belts.

It would of been much, much, much easier to use logic on the fact that any pulley rotates, be it belt, rope, cable, etc. My wife read your question....... she said the same thing I did. And she can't even check her own oil.

Warm up engine util the noise starts. Remove the Serp belt and restart. Run for a few minutes. If the noise is still there it is either your distributor or flex plate. If it stops, you have isolated down to just a few components left not new in the front of the engine. The bracket that holds the fan clutch has a bearing, and of course the power steering pump. My bet is the distributor. Remove the cap and see if you have any side to side play in the shaft. Hope this helps

Let me bring to light the stereo thread. Was it 20 pages long? For a stereo.
If you can't figure out a belt problem by now, give up. You are obviously waiting your time. Belts are simple mechanics, Not rocket science.

Guys, I have to order the gator back belt online. They don't sell it in stores around here. Will I be good with the old one until it arrives?

Order the belt, get another one from a local parts store, cheapest one they have. If the belt you have is stretched out, you're not doing yourself any favors reinstalling it. Again, they're inexpensive. Put a new cheapie on there until the GY belt comes in. Then you'll have a spare, that can be used in an emergency situation.

This. And make real sure it's routed correctly. You say you are running out of adjustment on the belt in question. There are three possibilities for this:
1. Belt wrong, too long.
2. Belt stretched.
3. Wrong belt routing.

Definitely not the routing. I will swap this one out. I have still have the receipt, it has a3 yr. warranty. I will order the gator back.
