I just started digging into why my recirc and face vents aren't working. The heater and defrost work fine and the AC blows cold out the heater vents just don't have recirc and face vents. I did a vacuum check using a gauge on the underhood hoses and reservoir using the tee that goes to the cruise control. I don't have cruise so the perfect spot. It held vacuum overnight and the needle never dropped so I'm good there. I first took off the small cover by the recirc door and found that the actuator was not moving when the switch was moved to max AC. When disconnecting the actuator from the door the door works fine, but the door should be fully closed in normal operation, but was half open. I could move the actuator by hand, but when vacuum was applied it didn't work. Thought maybe it wasn't getting enough vacuum so I removed it and hooked it up to the tee where the cruise would be and that vacuum wouldn't work it either. Guessing actuator is bad so need a replacement, but seems they're not available new that I'm aware of. Looks like I'll be looking for a good used one unless someone here knows of source for new ones.

Next I'll try to figure out why the face vents don't work. Might be another bad actuator or weak or no vacuum going to it.

Update. The actuator arm for the face vents was not connected. Problem solved and everthing works except recirc. Vacuum at recirc was 15 inches of Hg. Actuator diaphragm and or spring or whatever is in there is definitely toast, so if I find a new one I'll post the source, otherwise I need to find a good used one.
