and philly, are you making sure your getting your cir-clips in place when you replace your joints? the caps shouldn't come out like that, even when bad..

I would be wary of that, I personally rec MOOG, lifetime warranty, and known decent quality, next on my list would be either napa, or carquest boxed ball joints.

I am positive that I'm getting the c clips to sit correctly in the joint. I didn't think of amazon. Moog's at the stores here are like 75 bucks a piece. I don't have a lot of cash left to do this **** because I just bought a WJ yesterday. So I though 80 bucks for all 4 ball joints . Also how hard is it to bet the TB bushing out, I may just go to a JY tomorrow morning and grab on in good shape to see if that is indeed the problem before I waste money on shipping.

hmm.. thats strange, are you getting heavy duty U-joints? (greasable or non-greasable)
and remember, you get what you pay for... you really wanna do ball joints twice? I think I got all four of mine off Amazon for like $160?

have you checked the yolks of your axle shafts? you didn't bend the ears in or out on accident getting the joints out/in?

No they are good. I checked them the last time I changed them. Now with the track bar, if the bushing is shot on the axle end wouldn't that cause the permanent tre on the other end to go bad also?

not necessarily, rubber is alot less reselient than a TRE, but its good to just replace the whole assembly.
If your going for the cheap fix, press a new bushing in and call it good

Well I am going to order the ball joints and u joints tomorrow and I found a set of bushings for the Tb from energy suspensions also.

But before I order the bushings I'm going to take one last look under the front end.

A week ago I replace all the ball joints in my XJ with new Dana Spicer ball joints (#706944X). The every day price is $46.00 a pair (upper and lower) at 4 Wheel Parts Wholsalers. Hard to beat Dana Spicer quality! Heck it's what they came from the factory with.

I got my ball joints, track bar bushing and a shock for my wife's WJ today from the fedex man. Unfortunately it's supposed to rain all week and I don't have a garage to work in.
