Good to hear. Now that you got your issue addressed, make sure your cooling system is in top shape, especially with summer coming up. An overheat condition in a 00-01 XJ can push the already weak cyl head over the line and cause it to crack. Keep a close eye on your coolant bottle. If you see an unusual and consistent drop in the level with no obvious external leaks that would be your first clue that the head has met its faith.

Yeah I'm pretty on top of the cooling system. Last year I put in the Flowkooler water pump and it's been great. This year I plan on the triple electric fan setup from Dirt Bound Offroad. Since I only live about 20 minutes from them I'll just go pick it up.

Yeah maybe all it needed was new plugs or maybe not. Hadn't really crossed my mine cuz the previous set wasn't that old...about a year. But either way it's running fine for now so I'm not complaining and I don't really mind spending the extra money on a new coil. With that said, I just put in my order for a lift

Well I got bad news....started with a little rough idle the last couple days and funky exhaust smell again. FML...no codes yet though.

Also the rough idle and funky smell are only when in driving gears, neutral and park the rough idle and smell go away. Weird....

Cracked exhaust manifold or loose bolts, or other exhaust system leak

Ever get the feeling you might just be...

I do have a small leak where the muffler and cat are joined, but that seriously couldn't be causing all the problems

Would an incorrect (Bosch) O2 sensor be the culprit? I have Mopar O2 in both upstream but only one mopar down stream in bank 1, the fourth is still bosch.

Hooked up my scanner and monitored O2 sensor readings. The bank 2 downstream sensor is rapidly changing and not staying steady at around a half volt but up and down from .060 to .800 this iss leading me to believe my pre cats are on their way out. From a top down and bottom up visual inspection I couldn't see any cracks in the exhaust manifold. After it cools a bit I'll check the bolts.
