Suppose I wanted to put a bench seating setup in the front of my xj, anyone know if I can get by with any stock manufactured seats or am I looking to modify something else?

Post Check...I also drive a Dodge 2500 and my girl rides stratling the shifter, want to have this for my XJ. Not to mention dont use my hand brake!

You're talking about a pretty serious fabrication right there. I don't believe any XJs ever came with benches up front and to fab one to go up there would be a chore to say the least. Not to mention that would look weird.

The MJs had bench seats, and no console. You would need the seat, what passes for a console and parking brake set up from one. Should go in just fine.

Thanks 4.3L XJ! I know it would look wierd, but of course many owners make their own XJ the way they want it to look, some cut their frame in half and arrange a tire carrier like for a pick up, I think this is dumb. Your info helps a lot I know what to look for now! Thanks again! I think I can get by without my hand brake. I have a friend I work with says he has never used his and he's been Rock Climbing and Mudding for 5 yrs on his current rig. If I did want to keep it, I suppose I could extend the cable and mount it on to the right of the tranny shift.

Hey Davy been to kurton before? I had bought my old 95 XJ when I lived in Suffolk just two months prior to an event and didnt get it built. I had problems with the arms, the bolt had frozen to the metal sleeve inside the bushing and I was without a saw or cutting torch. Though I have made it Red Lodge a few times 25 pounds for all day. Not too bad! I'll post some pics when I get home. I am a bit salty with myself for leaving it behind. Shortly afterwards I was notified if got scrapped, tire swing, 3in lift, new sways, and 5 new rims and muds tires thrown away. That will make you salty. If you get up towards red lodge sometime you might stop by the junk yard there, it's possible there are still some gud parts available from it, if your looking for any like a front skid and stock tow points!

Yeah its an auto! I originally wanted a std. I miss being able to regulate my speed on the highway. However, my buddy talked me into an auto, he said, "Driving manual during a decent rock climb can be a sticky situation." I guess since he has more experience with cherokees I broke down and told him, he made since!

ya stick is good for mud but rock climbing is good and also overriding and locking the tc in a auto i heard is good for trailing. i have not done this yet tho.
oh i see you dont even need the brake i took the brake out of my trail rig 87
out of my new dd 88
and out of the red 92 that im building then selling
my mazda b4000 is a 5 speed the brake stuck on so i cut it i just put it in reverse and i can sit on a steep angle and its fine.
