Default best place to buy shocks?

like the title says whats the best place to buy shocks? and the cheapest? i took my jeep offroading this weekend and the front shocks were so bad that when it flexed the oil pan got dented in about a half inch on the steering stabalizer causing it to hit the crank and wear a whole. caused a big mess but my shocks are shot so need replacing. my lift will consist of 2" spacers and 2" shackles. so need something thats 2 inches longer with no mod. read a thread on here somewhere that they were pretty cheap somewhere but after searching i still cant find it.

if you want cheap performance just buy some rustys... $30 a pop

any lift company will have replacements for about the same.

BDS, Zone, RC, RE you name it

Your shock are not to blame for your oil pan being damaged, do you have bump stops on your rig?

^x2 If your bump stops are adjusted right nothing can hit your oil pan. It isn't a function of shocks to stop suspension travel, just to control the suspension recoil.

yeah theres bump stops on there. so what else could of caused it? the steering stabilizer where it connects to the sway bar hit the oil pan and dented it pretty good. need to get it fixed so it dont happen again. my jeep bounces ALOT

Bouncing does mean bad shocks.

thats what i figured but you started to make me second guess myself with your last post. i figured it was suspension related when i can push down on the hood hard and hit the oil pan on the steering stabilizer.

Be careful buying from online, especially with JeepinOutfitters if you are considering. Have had Doestchtech shocks "back-ordered" since 9/15/2010. Last I heard was delivery was expected within "a week or so"....grrrr

If we were sellers on Ebay or Amazon we would be expected to sell only within stock. In other words we could only sell what we have.

Anyway, my rant is over...lesson learned! Call retailer (especially online!) and verify parts are in stock before ordering...

I found a sick deal for some Tokico Trek Master shocks on closeout......$16.50 EACH!!

Going to be installing them with new springs front and rear this week, so I will gladly report back ride quality, etc.

What do you mean where the steering stabilizer connects to the sway bar? The sway bar should not be connected to the steering stabilizer. It should be connected to the drag link and to the front axle on the passenger side.
You say there are bump stops, but are they long enough?

maybe its not called a steering stabilizer. its the thing that looks like a small shock going from the passenger side to about the middle of the axle located directly under oil pan.

I got shocks from Summit Racing. Good prices and fast shipping.

Sounds like you should consider longer bumpstops too or at least do the hockey puck trick.
