Best quality and best price
Hi everyone,
I have a 1988 xj i recently bought., It came with a second motor, so I am going to do a rebuild on it. I would like to know what would be the best rebuild kit to purchase for the money thanks for your input and knowledge.

Welcome to the forum!
First off, you need to make sure the engine is compatible with your vehicle. There were several changes made over the years. Dont take someone else's word for it like "the guy I got it from said it was from a 98 and this ones a 98 itll bolt right in" that can lead to problems during the rebuild or swap.
Second, you need to determine what kind of condition the engine is in. Bore scope, compression test, ect.
Then you can make a game plan as to how deep you want to go down the rebuild hole. You can tear is down to the short block and use new gaskets, or you can go crazy. Another decision is whether you going to tackle the job yourself or pay someone to do it.

I've have very good luck with these;
Falcon Global
Note that the components are from well known old line American manufacturers.
When everything comes from the same source (Enginetech) I just assume its Chinese.
