fun too, are we done damb it was just getting good. the most important thing is dont go to big the best thing if possible is to find some one with the same set up you want and see how it drive facts tell it all. its not good to boog the motor or is it good to run high rpms evry where you go

Well, the year shouldn't matter 'cuz the 8.25 was used from like '91 on and the 4 banger was offered until '00 IIRC. Are you trying to say I wouldn't be able to find an 8.25 tucked under a 4 banger? I would never install a D35 under my Jeep unless my 8.25 took a crap and I got the D35 for free.

Oh, ok. I personally haven't seen any 4 bangers in the yard, but it's bound to happen eventually. Am I correct that I can't install 4.10's in the front without also doing it in the rear?

My disk brake conversion is going to come well before the gears, but the info is good to know for when I plan to do it.

you could but never use 4x4 the gearing difference would cause binding in the tc i meant if you run acrossit you vwould save money by buying it and store untill you do the rrear

Yea, that's why I was clarifying that. I figured it would cause all types of binding, but wasn't positive. It's the same concept as having oversized tires and using a stock spare... it'll just chew the gears to hell.

And yea, I know what you meant, that's what I would be doing anyway, but funds are limited and the brakes take priority.

I'm currently out of work with two torn tendons in my arm, so I'm extremely tight on money right now.

I'm on craigslist daily, even if I don't have any money.

No, the carrier in the 8.25 is good all the way to the max of 4.88. The front yes, you will need a new carrier.

Here is a picture of my dash with 4.56 gears and 33" BFG KM2's

And YES, I have the corrected 39 tooth speedo gear and have verified with GPS

I love the combination. Drives like normal with slightly better torque which helps crawling or pulling trailers. As for gas mileage......I blew that out of the water a LOOOOOOOONG time ago.
