Cherokee experts at the Northern Idaho Institute of Post Renix Jeep Cherokees have identified the dome positively as the Bermuda Triangle Wormhole Resistor. It was an option on all Jeeps, but most popular in the Southern reaches of Florida, Bermuda, and Atlantis.
You can traverse the Bermuda Triangle with confidence now.

You guys are all wrong... It IS a mini dome camera. No one knows this, but all of us that have this in our jeeps are on a jeep reality show. It's called JEEP PEEP. On another planet they watch what we do in our jeeps and vote on who does the coolest stuff in it each week.
And for those of you who have messed with the camera... Well you got voted off!
