blower motor hose?

blower motor hose?
I I am in the middle of replacing my resistor, switch and blower itself... (due to melting switch) And im also gonna do the relay fix for future problems.... My question is i bought a replacement blower motor through rock auto and the hole for the rubber hose is 90 degrees off of original and now the hose wont plug into my new blower motor.... What is the purpose of this hose? To keep blower motor cool?
