Default Brake light Issue

When I pulled into the driveway today I noticed that my brakes do not illuminate when I press on the brake pedal. They work when they running lights are on, they just don't signify that I am braking.. if that makes sense.

Any thoughts?

Use a multimeter to test the brake switch near the top of the brake pedal arm. If the tail lights are working, but not activated by pressing the pedal, that is the first place to start.

^^^ good advice... that's where I was going to suggest to start if someone hadn't mentioned it first. Heard that's a fairly common little issue on these too.

It's the darnedest thing. I was about to take the switch off and I pressed the pedal for giggles and the drivers side lamp started to work. Switched the same bulb to the passenger side, shoved a plank of wood between the wheel and the pedal, tapped the bulb a couple times, and it worked. Seems to need some cleaning in the sockets and 2 new bulbs. Thanks for the input though. I may just replace the switch anyways for peace of mind.
