Brake rotors napa vs cheaper options
1999 but axle is 97.
What's your thoughts on rotors, just rock auto it or go napa?
How bout calipers
Likely running hawk hps pads again.
How bout for rear rotors/ pads for the conversion?
I Planned on cheaping the rears stuff.
Thanks

I run Centric Posi-Quiet ceramic pads all around (rear disc conversion). For rotors I use Centric Premiums. Haven't had to replace the calipers but will probably go with Centric if/when needed.

I also like Centric. For the front on my 2000 I used Centric Posi Q loaded calipers and Centric HC premium rotors. Good protective coatings and no issues with fit or poorly machined brake line or bleeder ports, which I have seen on some. New loaded calipers made the task easy and eliminated risk of rust and wear on the old calipers causing hang up or noise.

I'd just run whatever Rock Auto or the local parts store has. Rotors are just a big chunk of metal. As long as you don't buy the cheapest thing, you'll be fine. The rock bottom cheap stuff tends to have a higher probability of warping.

I've had a rotors from probably 3 different sources over the last 3-4 years (for different vehicles). Honestly, they all seemed liked they could have come from the same factory with just different names stamped on the boxes. Which is probably closer to the truth these days. They have all performed about equally, and the none of them corroded any faster/slower than the others.

Pads are more important than rotors.
I bought cheap pads for my car because I thought they would just wear out sooner and save the rotors, but no they apparently generated too much heat and ruined my new rotors.
So I just did the whole thing again with better pads and hopefully with better results.

Most of the rotors these days seem to be Chinesium. Unless you're going racing there's probably not a lot of difference between them. When doing my rear disc conversion a few years ago I used brand-name Raybestos rotors - Hecho en China. They've been fine.

I like the OReilly's rotors. They have a ceramic coating on the non-pad surface so they resist rusting. Problem with Napa is they're a hassle with returns ...at least around here (and I have an account with them!!). OReilly's are a complete no-hassle return.
Listen to this: Last year I went down to buy some new rotors at O'Reilly b/c the ones I had, had become pitted from rust (not small pits). While buying them I happened to complain that for some reason their rotors seemed to rust up faster than other rotors I've bought (from other companies). The guy stopped right there, looked up the rotors I had bought a few years ago, and said he wanted me to be happy -- if I brought my rotors down he'd turn them for free (which they did). When I go to return things at NAPA I have to endure long faces and odd facial grimmaces and make sure I have my receipt ...or god forbid they take a few minutes to look my order up.

Just found out we are getting an O'Reilly's soon. So I will have 3 parts suppliers within a 5 minute radius in this tiny little town. I hope it doesn't change the nature of the Advance here, because they have been very good.

I live in a tiny semi-rural town. But because we are centrally located we have both a NAPA (probably been here since the roads were still dirt only). NAPA here is completely miserable. The retail space is dirty and sparse, the employees are completely miserable and slow, their website is an absolute disaster (every part look up ends with - "Contact the Store for availability". Honestly, I don't know how NAPA stays in business, but it would seem that they have a loyal customer base (mostly elderly locals). Makes me wonder how long that can hold out, because they certainly don't attract new customers.

I'm not certain. The Advance has all the hallmarks of being corporately owned. As for the NAPA, I'm going to guess it is privately owned (because I think the legal name is something entirely different e.g. "small town auto parts inc." ).

I've got two NAPA privately owned shops plus two Advance Auto's and one Auto Zone that are 1/2hrs distance in opposite directions from me. All are good people to deal with but I do buy most of the parts for our two vehicles online. Probably 99.9% from Rock Auto.
