Default Brakes Squeaking/ Noise

Hey everyone,

Recently did a brake overhaul on my 93 XJ and my brakes are squealing at speeds of about 25mph when braking and also when I press the brake and release the sound of metal grabbing and releasing can be heard from the back. So I took the forum to see if anyone had a similar problem and I could find none. I went out took the wheels off and checked the brakes. Pads have lots of life, but the wear on them is odd. No leaks on the cylinders or anything. Please inspect the pictures below and any advice is greatly appreciated.

P.S I am in new york and it has been consistenyl 90+ degrees F. where I am. I did not use any brake quiet when installing the brakes. I replaced rotors, drums, calipers, wheel cylinders, lines, pads, springs. Flushed and replaced fluid. I Have a master cylinder i am installing before winter (because it was on sale).

Did you get any brake fluid on the shoe friction surface? They look contaminated

No, no fluid ever touched the pads.

And you cleaned the oil off the drums with brake clean before installing?

Doesn't look like your shoes are contacting the drum correctly. And please clean the rust off your hub before you put your wheel back on geeze man thats terrible!

I feel like they might not be contacting correctly too. Any advice on how to remedy it?

Also yes I sprayed everything down with Brake Clean.
