I have 1988 cherokee that I just did an axle swap on. I can't get the brakes to bleed. I've never had this problem before, I have bled many brakes. I don't think there is any air in the system, but after bleeding and pumping I only have brakes for a few seconds before I don't. I was wondering if it could be the proportional valve. At first I thought it was the master cylinder, so I did a master cylinder vacuum upgrade with a 2001, but that didn't help anything after bleeding that. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Thank you
Start furthest from Master cylinder. Hit bleader, Banjo bolt, next fitting bleader, Banjo bolt then any fitting to the front then same on from.
Also verify Banjo bolts arent leaking. If a banjo wont seal lightly smack it with a sledge then tightn a fuzz more. This seats Chopper Was to Banjo texturen kinda thing.
It sounds like you're getting a steady stream of brake fluid out both sides, just no pedal. Did you swap your rear brakes or use what was on the new axle; what is the material condition of the rear brakes? And, you did have good brake pedal before the swap?
Yes that’s true calipers will mount either side and if the bleeders are on the bottom there will be a pocket of air that will never bleed out and the pedal will be forever spungy
Ok I just found that I had calipers on the wrong side. These axels that I just got from east cost gear in november were on my 2001 tell I rolled it doing 60.
Now I'm building a 88 from all the parts that have. Thank for the help.
