Stock XJ Cherokee Tech. All XJ Non-modified/stock questions go hereXJ (84-01)
All OEM related XJ specific tech. Examples, no start, general maintenance or anything that's stock.
Just put all new A/C parts under the hood (and some I didn't realize I needed). Vacuumed it, fired it up, all a/c inside the cabin fired up, but no clutch activity on the compressor. Made sure fuses and relays were all in order.
So what gives? Maybe I am missing something. I am kinda new to A/C. The PO had removed all of the underhood items when I got it.
There is one plug that I cant find whatever it goes to. Just want this to be done for summer.
And ... does anyone know good stock size tires that would do ok on rough roads? (not offroading)
Did you check the low pressure switch? As far as i can remember, if the low pressure switch is bad, and shows no pressure, the clutch won't kick in to save the compressor. (I'm not entirely sure, my XJ doesn't have ac lol.)
as for the tires 235/75/15 yields a good range of tasks with proper all season or all terrain tires..... just avoid general grabbers for a month or so lol there must of been a bad batch because almost everyone we done are coming back with separated belts and size doesnt matter. But some falken wildpeaks is a decent budget tire.

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually looking at the Falken's, too. They seem good.
Paperclip, short piece of wire, etc - basically force continuity across the contacts.
However, if you're doing this and the A/C compressor kicks on, don't let it run for more than a second. The point of that switch is to protect the compressor from running without proper lubrication, so figure out what's wrong - bad switch or legit problem with pressure in the system so you don't ruin your brand new compressor. As you know, those suckers ain't cheap!
Pretty sure these paper clips aren't conductive, oh well. I found a leak on the accumulator, though. Can even hear it. Guess the o-ring must've ate it when I pressed the metal fitting on the hose in.
Welp, I've gone through the list of issues again
Verified the clutch works, the system just holds no pressure to have it activate, ergo, the freon is just leaking out somewhere.
The only thing I haven't replaced is the evap core, and I am to the part where you remove the nuts from the studs at the firewall
EXCEPT ...
They are free spinning, I cannot loosen the nuts normally.
Any ideas on how to tackle this? I am about ready to throw a stick of dynamite at this thing and call it good.
