Default Break and Steering sounds

Hi all,

I can here the power steering when I'm turning...is that normal? It's like a slight hissing sound.

I also have a sound through an aftermarket radio when the brakes are applied. Most noticeable when stopped with the brake pedal depressed.

And while I'm at it, my engine seems to whistle. Runs great, love the car, but all sorts of noises.

Any input?

First off, its a Jeep. they make noise.

Power steering sounds normal, mine does it and most SUVs that I've driven do it.

The sound through the aftermarket Radio has to do with wiring, something about your radio wiring is connected to the brake switch in some way, most likely either your ground or hot wire.

The whistle sounds like a cracked exhaust manifold(if i'm not mistaken) Mine does it too, and most noticeably at like 2,500rpm cruising on the highway in. My buddy's TJ with the 4.0 does the same thing

Thanks for the info. I knew it was a ground, I just never experienced it with braking. I'll check the manifold.

Thanks again

How bad is it to drive with a cracked exhaust manifold? They aren't cheap...

I'm pretty sure mine's cracked and I've been driving it around like that since I got it. No problems here.
