Default Broken dome light solution.

So my dome light kept falling down while I was driving because in mine it's held in there by the stiffness of the headliner only. Well the headliner surrounding the dome light got a small tear and that was enough for the dome light to start falling down every once in a while. It's really annoying when it happens while you're driving and you get a little bit of that foam stuff in your face while a big plastic housing and a wire are hanging right by the side of your head.

Anyway, I ended up taking the whole housing out because it kept falling. I looked for a few different solutions. I was thinking that Scotch 3M double sided tape to hold it up there, but it had to go so far up there to stick against the roof that it would definitely have eventually fallen again. I also looked at these little LED light panels on eBay that have double-sided tape on them and the adaptor that plugs right into the dome light connector. The idea of having a 48 LED panel just stuck up there is a little janky but was the best solution until eventually I found this: https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-co...uck-light.html This fits in the hole pretty well, but not perfect. The down side is that I have to recharge it every once in a while and it doesn't come on when I open the door, but the upside is that it's magnetic and I can move it around and even put it under the hood when I'm working on the vehicle. You can even swivel it around and aim it on the bench seat or as a cargo light (which I don't have) from it's position as the dome light. It's also very bright and has two brightness settings. Another reason I chose this one was because it doesn't take batteries and I can just recharge it from inside the vehicle. All-in-all I think it's a good solution and makes the "dome light" far more versatile.

I'm pretty pleased with how it ended up working out. Just wanted to share what I found incase anyone has a busted dome light for whatever reason. I don't work for Eastwood or anything. I've actually never even bought anything from them until now.

You got something worked out at least.
As far as the 3M double sided tape goes probably not a good solution for the regular stuff you buy in the auto part stores.
Now they make this 3M VHB. That stuff is no joke.
If you try to give it a shot buy the 5952.

You can buy it in smaller quantities but be aware that they are probably taking it off bigger rolls and selling it in smaller amounts.
I used it for my door molding and roof skid strips in the appropriate sizes.
Be where you want to be before you touch anything.
I was slightly off on one of the door moldings and made the mistake of being just a little to close when I was trying to line it up.
I slightly touched the door and that was where it ended up. LOL.

What year Cherokee? I just removed my headliner from the 1992. I prefer it. I'll do the same to the 1988 some time.

I'm going to remember the VHB in the future.

1999. That's the reason why I went for a magnetic light. Going to take the headliner out eventually. I think it looks better like that too.
