He said a lot of times ppl replace it when changjng the air filter so I bought one for my jeep but idk where it is ... Anybody know ? It's a 99

Really? So why would they have even looked it up and found one compatible ? And what is the thing the hose from the air box attaches too? Sorry just learning everyday I've never been very mechanical lol.

Because not every parts person is a parts person and knows the difference between pcv and ccv. If you jiggle it can you hear something rattle?

Here's some drivel. The rear CCV orifice is 2.6 mm. It includes a valve that does two things. One is if vacuum is extreme, it closes off, also during a backfire it closes off. The idea is, it's a built in, metered vacuum leak, to provide circulation through the crankcase. You want that working! It could change the balance of positive/negative crankcase pressure. Positive crankcase pressure will look like a failed rear main seal.

All that said, all my "new to me" 90 has, is an elbow there with an orifice that looks to my eye to be about 2.6mm. So there's that. It has no metal, or valve, or anything. Just a hole.

So the rear one is in fact a pcv then? I think the way mine is setup is the front is an open air breather (just an elbow with a filter on it) and the rear is a pcv with the valve, run to the manifold

Ok well I have the part so I might as well replace it. Do I just pull the line out an pop the piece out w a flathead or is there something special to it?

That's the right part and the right thing to do. Its plugged into a large grommet so don't get too aggressive. If you have some large vice grips or channel-lock pliers you can grab the top and pull it straight up

A thin film of water pump RTV on both sides of the gasket just about guarantees a good seal.

One word of caution be gentle those plastic rubber lines break fairly easy. But are easily replaceable. Get the grommet for it will make it a lot easier to install, as the old one is probably harden up and will break or crack.

The guy at Oreilly's should have sold you a new grommet also. Getting the new valve in that grommet may destroy it. The grommet is in the HELP ! section, and is Part No 42344...
