Looking at those leafsprings and how close the axle is to that bumpstop, i wouldnt be surprised if you are bottoming out, which would explain the bumpy ride, and parts rattle as fasteners have probably worked loose from the shock. Ride height decreases as leafsprings sag because they can no longer support the weight of the vehicle as they once did. The shocks compress from the weight. How much depends on the shocks and how heavy the vehicle is. But shocks will bottom out sooner with leafsprings that have inverted. The ride will suck. Start looking for leafsprings.

 

I do have a picture of how ridiculous it looked somewhere, give me a minute.

But this is what's called "squatting" in the US. It's a current (but dying) fad, in which 16-21 year olds have been doing to describe to others how they like to use the bathroom. Usually performed on Chevrolet trucks.

Anyway, this is what happens when you replace your saggy leaf springs. They settle in a little bit, but the front is deceptively saggy as well.

 

Ah, so a bit like mine when I installed new ones lol Yeah makes it obvious you can't get away without addressing the front....ending up with a unplanned lift

I just think its funny that there is a complaint about the jeep being bumpy and noisy on a rough dirt road.....

I honestly cant tell if you're serious or not.....

But............. if you are driving over a lot of bumps, the jeep is going to bounce around. The suspension is only going to soften the feeling of a bumpy road, not make it go away................................

Now, the faster you go over the bumps the less you will feel them in a lot of cases. Go slow over a speed bump in the parking lot and the entire vehicle moves up and down. Do 15MPH over those bumps and the suspension is going to absorb most of it and only the wheels are going to go up and down... but you will certainly feel it.

And when the jeep is bumping around, its going to cause things to rattle unless 100% of the fasteners on the jeep are tight, and nothing else can move around to cause noise and rattling.
