Bushing on Struts...?
I'm noticing the rubber bushing that sits between the top of the frame and the end of the strut is compleletely worn out in the front (these are the rubber bushings you can see from the engine compartment).
What are those called? I'm trying to find them to replace them, autozone called them strut mounts but that isn't it.
The lower bushings (visible from behind the front wheel are still intact)...
Thanks.

Are you talking about the top of the front shock absorber on a Jeep Cherokee (XJ)? The small bolt that protrudes into the engine compartment with a rubber bushing, a circular metal plate, and then a nut? One on each side where the shock absorber comes through?

You can usually by replacements for these at any auto parts stores for very little money. They are just a little chunk of rubber. I've seen them in single packages, and also in groups such as 4 in a pack. Grab your old one to use as a comparison so you can get the size generally correct.

Go new shocks. Cheap and safe. Why spend the cash on the bushings separately? I didn't even know they sold them. Your auto store guy should a told u that also. Replace em all... and it's easy, even when rusted.

Sometimes people just crank down on the bushings (over-tighten the upper mounting nut) because they don't know how to install them. So they fail prematurely, or immediately. The rubber splits, cracks, and then falls apart as the elements get to it.
