when my jeep is running there is a buzzing noise you can hear from the rear. u can only hear it from the outside of the jeep. its a 1996 jeep cherokee

Fuel pump?

 

im not sure if it does it while driving bc you can only hear it from outside. and its from the rear. if its the fuel pump would tht mean its goin out or wat.

 

I have noticed that they usually begin to get louder prior to quitting. A mechanic showed me once, if it does quit and leave you hanging somewhere, you can beat on the tank and jolt it back into action for a short while. Worked for him, next time did not work for me, though.

 

so i should probably get ready to replace it.

 

If your noise is the fuel pump, yes i think so.
It still may be something else, See if you can post a video of it making the sound.
That should help out with a better diagnosis.
