A/C help diagnose problem
I have a 2000 jeep Cherokee sport 4.0L. And its freaking hot!!! So I have the repair manual and I'm pretty handy. Everything seems to check out except possibly the clutch on the compressor. Is there an easy way to test it, i can turn it with my hand but it doesn't seem to click or engage ot anything. I have multi meter and I am electrically savy. Please help my fiance and I are melting!

You can energize the clutch manually by connecting its wire to +12v, but as already mentioned chances are there is not enough pressure in the system and the safety pressure switch is protecting the compressor. You need to hook up a manifold gauge set, there needs to be a minimum of about 20 psi pressure in the system for the compressor to turn on.

This is relatively simple to narrow down quickly
Select AC setting, key in the on position
Remove the ac clutch relay and jump the switch side 'recepticles' and watch what happens
Either your clutch engages (what I expect) or not.
Report back which of the two options and we can go from there
