A/C not working and hissing behind dash when ac is on?

Default A/C not working and hissing behind dash when ac is on?

like the title says i have a 93 xj and the AC is not working and when i turn it on it blows normal temp air and there is a hissing noise.. sounds like its comming from under the passanger dash.. and recommendations or fixes?

well the drier or w/e it actually is is located on the passenger side in the back of the engine compartment (on my 01 at least) and the sound might be traveling from that?

I think you might have 2 seperate issues. I have the same hissing. Only when my ac is on, and there seems to be a coorelation with the noise and acceleration. My ac works fine though, and pressure in system is ok.

isn't that stuff vacuum actuated like most other cars? if you hear a hissing then I would be looking for a broken vacuum line behind the HVAC controls

Hello all, The hissing noise (and a/c inop) is usually associated with a low refridgerant charge, simply the sys is pretty much empty! Have the a/c checked/recharged and all will be well.

ok
i have a 93 cherokee so its an r12 how do i convert.. or can i get somthing that will just attach and then attach to r134?
