A/C Oil

A/C Oil
I just got a new Denso compressor plus replaced all ac components. I had added 2 oz. to the evaporator and figured the rest would go in the compressor and drier. The problem is the Denso comp comes with a factory charge of 8 oz. The info I got online says the 2001 only takes 6. When I attempted to emty the compressor only 2 oz came out. I called denso and they confirmed that the comp came to me with 8 0z. Does anyone know the correct amount for the 01 and why cant I get any oil to come out of the new compressor???

Put the 2 oz. you drained out back in. You follow Denso instructions with this compressor.
The other instructions were for the factory compressor and no longer apply.

The old compressors tag reads 8 oz so thats a good thing. Forget the 6 oz I found inline but my problem is I have no way of knowing how much oil is currently in the compressor. 8oz. should have come out. I dont want to assume there is still 6 inside. If there was 6 I'd be set as I already put 2 in the evap. Why isnt the oil coming out?

Yes 6 oz of pag. From what Ive been told the system does in fact take 6 oz all together. No more oil has come out so at this point I'm putting 3 oz back in and 1 in the accumulator, plus there is already 2 in the evap and hoping for the best.

The system takes 8 ounces.
With a new dry system, shipping oil is drained from the new compressor and 4 ounces of new oil is added. Then 4 ounces added to the accumulator.
Assuming the Evaporator is not replaced, it is to be flushed and evacuated with compressed air. Same goes for the Condenser.
PAG 100 is the replacement oil. With dye is preferred.

If you put too much oil in the system, you loose cooling capacity.
If you put too little oil in the system, your compressor runs too hot.
In 2000-2001 they switched the trigger on the electric fan:
1997-1999 (and possibly earlier, but here I'm talking about the new body style) it was off the same signal as the A/C clutch.
2000-2001 uses a different high pressure switch. When pressure gets high enough, the electric fan will come on, and when it drops, the fan goes off.
My theory is that using the high pressure switch doesn't cool as well so they lowered the oil amount to compensate slightly.
Being an ounce off probably won't hurt much either way.
Refrigerant charge matters a lot too, and its 1.25 lb R-134a for 1997-2001.

My '99 FSM.
The 2000 FSM does say 6 ounces but I can't figure out what the difference would be between the 1999 and 2000 XJ.
