Default Calipers, new vs reman. Any suggestions?

Shopping for some new brake calipers. Was going to go with some remanufactured brand from Advanced. The brand is called Wearever. Never herd of them but they have good reviews. I have speed perks and coupons to spend with them so I’ve been looking around there.

Raybestos seems to get a lot of love on RockAuto.

Then theres always Mopar. At $125 each, doesn’t really seem that economical to me.

Any preference on calipers? I know the rust belt is going to kill them off prematurely like everything else so maybe im just being picky?

I've been using Centric Premium pads and rotors front and back. When or if it comes time to replace the OEM calipers I'll get the Centric ones listed in the daily driver column from Rock Auto.

I think that BrakeBest from O'Reilly's had the lowest core charges for brake parts, like $5, when I checked last.

Apparently the 1999 XJ was a turning point for brake rotor sizes. There seems to be two different sized rotors for the 99 XJ. Anyone clue me in as to which size I'll need? Manufacture date for my 99 was 12/1998. I'm assuming it will need a rotor formed for the 1998 XJ?

I've never had a problem with those calipers from Advance. That's pretty much what I get whenever I need a set.

While you have everything apart check the park of the knuckle where the brake pads slide. That area can get grooved very badly causing **** poor front brake performance

The rotors could be cast or composite depending on the build date. Yours is an early 99, so they should be composite. See post #6. https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/...posite-835898/

I bet this was a real PITA for 99 owners who didn't do their homework.
