Default The calm before the storm!!

Hey guys,

I will be installing my 3" RC lift hopefully on thursday and I wanted to know if there are any last min. tips or helping points from you all who have completed thier lift kit installs. I am purchasing a coil spring compressor to assist in the coil spring removal/ installation. I have been pre-soaking the nots and bolts with PB-Blaster and praying to the god that I dont break any bolts. If there is anything you can suggest that would help me out in any way, PLEASE let me know now. Thanks for everything.

Keep a hot wrench and a cutting disc handy, esp. for the sway bar link pins...

I've been reading up for future projects and I have read a lot about how kits had a piece or two missing. I would definitely lay out everything and look through the 'contents list' to ensure every last washer is in the box. I hate having to crawl out from under my rigs to get a wrench, let a lone a trip to go get a part.

I don't know about the XJ, but the ZJ has a pitfall. When loosening the frame side upper control arm bolts, don't drop the 15mm socket down the framerail. It is no fun to get out.

Seriously, you shouldn't need the spring compressor but be careful when you do use it. And only compress the spring as much as you HAVE to.

Retorque in 2 weeks. Or immediately after you take it wheeling the first time.

The easiest way to use the spring compressors is to put a jack underneath the spring and jack it up to compress it. It will cut a lot of time off tightening the compressors down. 1/2" sockets and a big breaker bar comes in handy too. Good luck.
