Please help me identify what this sound is...
Not sure how long I have had this, but after my head swap it only happens under hard acceleration. Either entering the high way, or passing not so much day to day, but it worries me. Not sure if its a lifter, its sounds like the top end to me. Although my oil pressure is low at warm idle. After a "new oil pump" that the guy that sold it to me told me he put in. I returned it due to low pressure and it was good for a few days, then my 30 warranty ran out, then at day 61 I found coolant on my rockers. Assuming head cracked, swapped head. Now i hear this, might have been there before and I just never noticed. Can anyone help me out??
Did it in my drive way so you can see to well it was dark out... HELP

When you swapped your head, how did you check valve lash? Did you replace lifters, or pushrods? Did you use oem head gasket? The valve train on any motor is sensitive to mild variations of just a few thousandths. Take your valve cover off and check each of your rockers, and pushrods to see if they are loose. U should not be able to move the rockers, or spin the pushrods with your fingers. Try those things and get back to me. BTW Welcome home Warrior! Semper Fi!

I never took the motor to TDC, and I Torqued the lifters down to specs, but I never did it at TDC. I posted a question on this a while back and got told that it really shouldn't matter.
Ill pull the valve cover this weekend and check everything. Ill get back to you on what I find.
And thank you, its good to be semi normal day to day again.... lol

Checked and re checked the bolts, everything is to the right TQ. The sound is still there. I know I have a oil pressure issue, but on a fresh start im at well above 20lbs. Only after driving for a while and coming to a dead stop does it drop low. I know its more than likely the cam bearings.
Anything else this might be. If not Ill just baby it till i tear it down and rebuild it this winter.

Johnny you can only set valve lash when the valve is closed. U don't have to have the motor at TDC, but u will either be checking 1 valve per cylinder or you will be checking a valve that is not fully seated. Make sense? If u are holding 10 psi per 1K RPM u should be ok. Not perfect, but ok. Do a search for how to set valve lash. Keep in mind u have hydraulic lifters. Very important for setting valve lash. I would definitely take the time to recheck the valves before I did a rebuild. Any other problems let me know.
