What year and engine type? Looks like a pre-update.

Note from DJ
The SJ series Jeep Cherokee is a full-size SUV that was produced from 1974 through 1983 by Jeep.

That's probably why I didnt recognise the ASD...

But still being able to start without it doesn't sound right. Maybe previous owner rigged something. Plus a battery drain ( although I can help with that though, folks with more knowledge about the SJ will probably chime in)

Not knowing anything about this (year, engine) wont do us any good.
Here are TSMs for SJ's: https://oljeep.com/edge_parts_man.html

Is that perhaps the maintenance light timer, as was on the old XJs? Those were meant to trip a light on the dash as a reminder to replace the O2 sensor at 80k miles. If so, remove and chuck it.

Might also be the flasher relay a I think the older Jeeps had them hanging in the harness instead of in the fuse box. Those used heaters and would get hot if you used the turn signals or flashers. Pull it and see if the hazards and turn signals still work.

HAHA!
So are we supposed to play 50 questions here to help you?

Not an SJ!
Probably not a 95 XJ either.
On an SJ that would be a seat belt timer.
Also the SJ's did not have a relay pack under the dash.

sorry it’s a 1995 jeep Cherokee sport 4wd the part gets really hot to the touch I had to pull it out I was afraid it would melt the wiring I can still get the jeep to start with a jump
start but their is something draining the new battery I put in I kinda thought it was the part I shared with u all

The best/easiest way to troubleshoot this is with multimeter that can read current; the clamp-style that you put around the wire... Then you can start pulling fuses until the current drops. You may get to the end with all the fuses out; just do it again in reverse...

Measuring voltage using a regular ol' multimeter works sometimes, but it's much harder to see...

perform a "parasitic current draw test" as outlined on Youtube

The ones that can read low current DC are pretty expensive. Just need a meter a decent meter that can handle 10-amps current in series.
