Question Can I paint these rims?

I REALLY want to paint my rims a nice glossy black but am not sure how to go about it because of the finish/type of rims I have and the "JEEP" engraving.

I also want to know what paint I could use that I could hand paint the JEEP engraving to make it show up silver or something against the black.

Don't have a close up at the moment but can get one if needed. Help!

Smile jeep rim

Just so you know all rims usually have a clear coat so if you plan on painting them take off the clear coat then prime and paint. Also the jeep center cap comes off with a flat head screw driver Good luck.

They also make wheel paint. Its by Dupont, you should be able to get it at any part store.

What he said. You can pop out that "jeep engraving" ... that's your center cap and use hobby paint or automotive touch-up paint. I'd lightly sand the wheels as they're aluminum and that material isn't known for its ability to hold paint. Or get a can of "Adhesion Promoter" to help the paint stick. Whatever you do, make sure you clear coat them well. You'll thank me later . I also have a set of aluminum wheels I want to paint black, just not sure yet if I'm gonna keep them.

If you go down to bare metal, get a can of self etching primer. Don't get the cheap stuff either, get 3M or another name brand from an automotive paint supply store. The cheap stuff isn't real etching primer. It will cost around 15$ or so but you'll never have to worry about the paint flaking off. After that, some rustolium primer and topcoat and your set.

If they are clear coated and the clear is in good shape (no flaking), scuff them up with a gray scotch brite pad before you top coat.

For the JEEP cutout, get whatever color you want, spray some paint into the cap, grab a small paint brush and paint away.

you can't "pop" out the "jeep" on the wheel. it's engraved into the spoke of the wheel, not the center cap.

Duplicolor makes the wheel paint you are looking for.

Check out www.duplicolor.com for more info.
