I use the Permatex black stuff that comes in a can with a built in brush. Stuff helps when you use a cork gasket. So short answer is, use gasket sealer not gasket maker.

Do you hear banjos?
A rule of thumb for silicone is, a little dab will do ya! If you see the stuff squozing out of the sides it is safe to assume that it is squozing on the inside too! That stuff can clog the screen of your oil pump and cause huge problrms!! Only use what you need to keep the gasket in place! Just my $.02 worth, hope it helps!
