I found one at Auto Zone for $109 and I'll replace the fan clutch as well. Thanks for the helpful info!

If you have fluid in the far uppest part of the block, that means you have fluid in the upper radiator hose, you don't have air trapped in it.
If you fill an overflow bottle when the engine is cold it will throw it out as soon as it becomes hot, the overflow bottle should be at minimum when cold and at max when hot. You can add fluid to reach the full level only WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT.

Exactly, the difference is in the valve, it has that little thingie with a ball at the end that stops the water from flowing back but not the air.

Nothing crazy expensive, just a solid replacement. Thanks in advance!
If you have the old style rad with the brass headers it can be serviced.
I have done it.
I unwelded one of the headers and used a wiper blade rod to push the crap through the tubes. 80% were clogged. You can't even imagine what came out: mud, leafs, dead bugs, a penny etc.
I enjoyed doing this. My radiator is 22 years old and it never overheated again after i did this.

I saved my old rad with the brass tanks. How do you un-solder?
