Yeah before you try cutting and all this other stuff, just go get a pitman arm puller or that c clamp set up

Mine came off very easy, I guess I had someone else do it when I saw what a PITA it was.

OP....I think it should be noted that you should only cut if all other attempts are unfruitful...I wasn't very clear with that right off the bat. Try the 2 arm puller first, or the c-clamp methods first, if you haven't already. If you have cut away. LOL

Yep, take your grinder and take down the head of bolt... then smack it while hot. Cut and grind the threaded side next if you still have trouble and use a punch to knock it out.

Works every time..

I cut the threaded end off and left 3/4 of an inch to work with. Take your grinder and concave the end of the threaded side. This is so that the tip of a air hammer point will have a place to sit and not glance off the bolt as easy when being run. Works very well and heating always helps too.

I ended up just hacking off the threaded section, then using the 3 jaw puller. The bolt had become bent somehow (probably from previous attempts to get it free), so I had to give the 3 jaw puller's center screw a flat surface to work on because it kept slipping off when being ratcheted down. Anyway, that headache is finally done. Thanks for everyone's suggestions and help.

Congratulations !!!! Every XJ owner needs to experience that trial at some point, like a right of passage into ownership. Once you know how to skin that cat, it's a whole lot easier on the second one lol.

If you need a larger, flatter surface next time, thread on a nut flush with the end of the bolt.

Ha its like a right of passage, you have now become a true owner lol. Mine was pretty easy, blasted it with PB, went to rent a pitman arm puller, popped them out in the autozone parking lot lol,
