Default carpet still soaked,,after much effort.

after much work following threads here. i pullud the wipers and air intake screen, built a dam 2 inches high under cowl on pass side. i temp taped the windshield rubber to the body metal to cover that gap/seam.
that stopped the water on the kick panel wiring/fuses/relays bur i pulled up carpet after rain driving and it drips water.i getting tired of this. i feel like just pulling all carpet to save my new floor pans.
is the cowl metal outside the windshield not solid to the inside???
how is water getting in???
if i pull carpet i can drill some holes to let it drain out.
i realize all vehicles have this problem. does any company sell a cure??
hummers have this when the sunroof drains plug up but its fixable

very frustrated

They don't all have issues. My old jeeps didn't have issues. My current one did.

What area of carpet is wet? Near firewall or the door?

After butchering my cowling I found my leak(s) were the body putty where the fender meets the firewall, and likely also where the blower mounts. Not pretty, but acrylic latex sticks better (then silicone), being water based. Another thing...If you use a hose running to look, (for example down around the blower), give it a good while to start leaking. I checked that lower stuff before cutting into my cowling....but I didn't wait long enough for it to leak.

pass side very wet.
driver side damp on flat floor but not on the pad where your feet go its dry under there and also the kick panel wires driver side are dry.
id like to see pix of where you caulked. ill do a major overkill on this. if i dont get it dry i will drive it with no carpet, ill tank it out,im burned up. thanks for advice,,,more?

Have you sat in your jeep and have a friend take a garden house and test areas tell you find a leak ?Or a crazy idea if you have a factory luggage rack it could have a rust hole under it letting water in.

Why don't you ever respond to my posts haha

So your carpet is wet near the door panels? Not near the firewall? Because it seems you did everything for up front near the cowl and you have to now start moving back.

Water runs down hill its always a higher point then you think its coming from.

X2. That putty cracks and falls off. Located inside engine bay, rear corners.

still working on this. i painted in the open gap between the fender and cowl with rust bullet . then i ll caulk it with latex as was mentioned. curious about the mention of fan mounting. i feel the foam seal from firewall to fan assm. does it leak thru foam?
the corners under hood look good.
the corner where windshield and fender and cowl meet seems open under the rubber? should i pump in some caulk?
that seems the same on both sides and could be the driver small leak but i cant find water on driver side,just dampness uhder mat on flat horizontal area not foot area.

i have sunroof. factory? it has a tiny 2 switch panel that does nothing. i think it says "asc" or asx, i didnt write it down
i dont want to open it!! i notice zero wetness in headliner and can feel drain tubing going to the a pillars. on the roof it looks like it could leak,but no trace inside.?

oh, how does water get into engine bay, in volume? does it leak thru the fan foam seal?

Try this. Open your doors. Then poor water in the gutter rails. Do they leak? Mine did and water would run down my doors to my carpet. Sealed the bottom of the rails and was good to go.

Zoom in on this pic at the area near cowl and bottom corner of windshield. This seam sealer falls out. Not sure if it can cause leaks to interior. I resealed mine but it is still leaking from somewhere. Probably still a good idea to redo it as you can see mine was beginning to rust.

I hit all the seams in there while it was apart. Just leave the bottoms open for the cowl to drain. Also clear the drainage areas. Then I under pared for good measure as I don't have the inner fender liners.

^? Undercoated. Here's the other side. Did the same here. The sealed near the cowl and windshield was hardened and brittle and falling out. There's a seam sealer that comes in a caulk style tube. Works excellent.
