Well i cut the cat off to find that the screen on the inside was broke off and just moving around on the inside. So what cat-back exhaust is good and at a decent price.

I have alway left that to the guys at the exhaust shop. They have never suggested I buy the most expensive setup or the cheaper junk either and I have always been happy with their choices.

Same deal with me, I left it to the muffler shop. The guy who owns the shop asked me if i wanted him to remove it. I asked about the laws and he said our state didn't require it ( I didn't even think to ask about Fed. laws). I believed he knew what he was talking about because the guy had owned the shop for 30 years and was an avid hot rodder. I guess I'd better get a new cat put on.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the box but, I don't want to be the guy who gets caught out in the woods breaking any laws. It's hard enough keeping our 4wheeling places open.

i am running no cat and a magnaflow performance muffler. it sounds rough and i have noticed a huge difference in MPG's. about 2-3 mpg less... if i had known that i would have bought a new cat, they kinda pay for themselves in the long run.

I know no one here is running a 70's model XJ so you are required by law to run one.
Everything I own doesn't have a cat, Except the vehicles that came with them. So there is exceptions guys. If your cherokee is only an off road vehicle only you don't have to have one. Cat's actually flow fairly good until they become plugged up.

Yes it would be terrible to report a fellow Jeeper but he says everything he owns is cat less unless it came with one. So not everything he has is off road only. And the pollutants he is emitting are toxic in the woods as well as on the freeway.

usually if someone says if it came with a cat then it has a cat on it. Cars before 78 don't have one and don't require one by EPA law. Therefore in his defense by what he said: If he has a 94 Honda then it has a cat on it cuase it came with one. So no need to report cuase his statement doesn't incriminate.
