i will try to find some pictures for you. but the antenna mount that mounts by your rear hatch is most of the time hand made out of a bit of steel and some self tapping screws. There is a thread about CB mounts and antennas. Again i wil see if i can find it, But it will have to wait until i am not at an airport. I can not see the real web addresss

same here i just took mine off. my buddy made one for his ZJ and made me one too. it was two pieces of steel both bent into L shapes and then welded together. were making a tire carrier for my jeep now and the cb will be on that so i dont have the mount anymore.

I am going to either go with that mount or make one of my own out of 1" angle from TSC or Lowes.... but am just wondering if you guys highly recommend using a spring at the base of the ant. or if I will be alright without it??

I just mounted my antenna and decided not to go that route because I know I would take it out in a day with a tree. I mounted mine through the stock rear bumper cover just to the side enough to barely clear the hatch. The mount is completely hidden and protected under the bumper cap.

I had some extra metal laying around that I used.. I actually bolted my mount on rather than screwing it. I don't have any pics of the actually mounting area, but here is an outside view.

This is my first mount that I made with some angle iron. I used a backing plate so it wouldn't yank the sheetmetal screws out of the body.
And this is what I am running now...

If the bumper end/cap is not metal (I don't think that it is) your antenna may not be grounded properly, unless you ran an separate ground wire.
