did your attenna loose the proper ground and/or mounting. Do you have a metal whip or a fiberglass whip? The metal one set screw could have come out or back off

that happened on mine; everyone could hear me but i couldnt hear them
turned out to be a bad fuse/crystal on the inside
bout 20 bucks to have it looked at and fixed at the local cb shop

well, in my experience everything (electrical) that goes bad, most of the time, looks bad
if your 1/2 way mechanically inclined, then open it up and do a physical look.
you may just see a broken piece or burnt fuse.
go buy the proper part and replace it.
if you see nothing, and happen to be electrically inclined, then its time to pull out the meter and start testing...

Well I may have found the problem, my mount is mounted on my roof rack that is painted and on the factory cross bars, do I need to ground my antenna? Will that solve my problem
I also dont have a swr meter, any ideas? I live in the city and noone knows what a cb is

You can get an SWR meter from your local Radio Shack. Just be sure to read the instructions how to use it first. Pretty easy to do yourself though.
