Mount the radio between the sun visors. I made a bracket and used the visor clips to hold the homemade bracket. Power was just an easy run down the passenger pylon to the fuse box.

I keep seeing a lot of people ask about this, and have never seen anyone mention hand held radios? I'm not one to talk a lot on a CB, So I could not see mounting one permanently. I use a hand held GPS unit all time. But I keep it in the glove box, until needed. Just curious?

I recently started learning about CBs from my father who is a truck driver... The reality is that with modern CBs the radio isn't that big of a deal. The antenna is the thing. CBs opperate on what are called the "Garbage Freqs" And never sound amazing anyways due to electrical interference and such. As far as mounting goes, I mounted mine similar to the one in the picture except that I mounted it to the side of the body just in front of the tailight instead of betweenthe body and hatch. I run a cheap CB and radio shack brand 4 ft whip and it works fine. The only problem with mounting them on the side is if you get too close to obstacles or trees, you can break the antenna off. I paid like 35 bucks for the antenna, mounting bracket, hardware, and 12' antenna cable. My CB is mounted on the center console on the passenger side. I've also seen people mount them to the back of the center console.

Ugh. OK I worked in a CB shop for awhile and competed in CB radio competitions for years so have a bit of knowledge about this. The bottom line is as someone mentioned "all CBs are the same" right out of the box. That is because FCC regulations limit the amount of power a CB can produce so they are all set at this low power setting. (About 5 watts) It is what you can do to them AFTER you take them out of the box which makes one CB or another better. If you go to a major "Key Down" competition (CB radio competition) you will find almost every competitior will be using either the older Cobra 25LTD or Cobra 29LTD Classics or one of the older Galaxy radios. That is because you can go in them and make a bunch of changes and get a lot of "swing" and modulation out of them. Now short of these major modifications it is best to get ANY CB radio peaked and tuned at a CB shop to get a bit more swing ("Swing" is the difference between what you "dead key" and what your peak output is. A CB right out of the box might dead key 3 watts and go up to 5 when you transmit...My old Cobra 29LTD will dead key 2 watts and swing to 50 watts.) and modulation....A nice high quality microphone is also a good step. Even the better radios come with stock mics. Then as has been mentioned a good antenna and above all set your SWR`s as low as possible. Run the CB right off the battery! Getting power from the fuse panel will lead to various auto electrical interference.... I could add more but don`t wish to get to long winded. I can answer more via private message if anyone wishes.

no to hijack or anything, but i heard you arent supposed to mount the antenna on the same side of the car as the exhaust pipe exits. is there any truth to that? if so why? thanks!

I think they are worried about the heat from the exhaust doing something to the coax cable.

You're not seeing things..That`s EIGHT Leece-Neville alternators just to run the amplifiers (Serpentine belts disconnected)

i run this cb (got on ebay for under 40)
http://www.quadratec.com/products/96080_90.htm
after i got this cb, i noticed a lot of the people i wheel with have the same exact one.
a 4' firestick antenna for about 22 shipped on ebay,
and this mount
http://www.firestik.com/Catalog/MK-M2.htm
i have it the antenna mounted right behind the gas tank filler door, and the radio mounted on the bottom of the dash in the driver side foot area, on the door side.
if you want, i can get some pics of the setup.

I am running a Cobra 29 LTD Classic NW with a Mod. swing kit, echo board, receive kit, Cobra M73 mic. It has a 1 1/2 watt key and swings about 40-50 watt. Running dual Firestiks with RG59 cables.
