CEL and low voltage
Hello everyone. The 92' XJ has been giving check engine lights for about a month now. Here are my findings:
And what's the actual issue: the brushes or springs inside?
Thanks!
Philippe
- The check engine light comes on when starting after the engine is warm.
- The check engine light does not come on when starting cold or when directly starting after shutting down.
- The voltage reads low when the check engine light is on, when starting warm.
- The voltage kicks up to 14V after driving for a minute or two.
And what's the actual issue: the brushes or springs inside?
Thanks!
Philippe

its only similar to your problem, but you may get some good advice from it.

Plug in you OBD reader and look at the History for the codes then check the code or codes stored - it sounds like a regulator - but check your OBD anyway
