To change, or Not to change.... Timing Chain
I am once again having to dig into my cooling system. My radiator once again sprung a leak so I am replacing it and going to upgrade to a Hesco high flow water pump while I am at it. I also need to replace the power steering pump, as it frequently is cutting out. So while I have the front of the engine cleared out should I go ahead and replace the timing chain and gears? The engine has 132k on it has good compression, doesn't use any oil and it always looks clean and other than a surprising lack of power for a big 6, runs good. Thanks

No need if everything is working fine. It's not like the timing belt on a car that needs to be replaced before it breaks. The possibility of the chain breaking is extremely unlikely - so much so that i've never heard of a case of it happening.
These engines are proven to run well into the 300k mile range and beyond. Yours is still a baby in respect to some out there.

Thanks for the replies, ya called the Jeep dealer to talk to service today and asked them what the service interval is. There was a short silent moment and then... "I don't think I have ever heard of one failing, so drive it until it brakes." Think I will save the grief and pass on it.

indeed.
It's not a concern also since if it DOES happen to break, which is extremely unlikely, it won't take other engine components with it like on some engines.
