Urban myth...

The AW4 has a screen-type filter installed to collect clutch material and metal shavings. If the fluid is discolored and does not smell sweet it is because it has been burnt from the transmission overheating and it should be changed immediately.

When changing the fluid you should always check the filter/screen in the transmission and clean out any debris you find. You can replace it if desired.

Powerflushing or reverse flushing has been known to dislodge material collected in the filter and any "naturally formed" sediments which can cause problems.

Regular fluid changes and inspections are essential to maintaining proper function.

Dexron III/Mercon compatible fluid (sometimes labelled as D/M) is the only ATF recommended by the manufacturer of the AW4. Some owners play with other fluids, but the original spec is guaranteed.

Any wau since that day when I was use the cruise control wasn t so precise of course anymore. But I still dont get whats the connection with the fell of power...

thanks
The cable for the cruise control is not the same cable as for the transmission.
Watch the video and see if you can get your transmission cable adjusted.

A++++ If you change fluid by dropping the pan you do not stir up the fluid. To the contrary, you are removing contaminates by dilution.
IMPORTANT...if you see a lot of crud in the pan it is clutch material so adjust the bands. This misconception comes from transmissions with worn out clutch packs. The contaminated fluid can contain enough abrasive material to keep the clutches from slipping...in which case you are running on borrowed time anyway.

No adjustable bands in an AW4 like the older trannies. Just change the fluid and monitor it. If it darkens up, change it again.
