Default charging issue

my voltage meter used to always read 14 which is in the middle now it has dropped 2 marks, so in the middle of 9 and 14. is my alternater gone??? is it my battery??

Go to auto zone,pull your battery real quick and have them test it.If the battery is fine than you know what is next.

cant u just disconnect one of the battery terminals to check it 2?? if so which one do i take off??

Disconnecting a bat cable w/ it running isn't recommended, and proves very little. Any chain store can do a load test on your charging system and battery if you can drive the vehicle to them. There's usually no charge.

Just went through this with my 96. I replaced Battery, ground cable, Alt. and the PCM. I sucked it up and had the dealership look at it. It turns out it was a dirty/ bad conection at the Alt. I think he said the field wire.

the field wire would cause a no charge or pore charing if it was loose or had a bad connection
