V8. or you can add a boat prop to your trailer hitch. seriously why do you need more HP? the 4.0L has plenty of torque and capable of a lot of power when you need it. i have a full exhaust (header all the way back) and an intake. its all you really need. but im bias i dont speed/ race i just crawl at 2.5 mph mostly if you wanna race jeep or whatever, v8 or a stroker both not cheap. screw a chip they screw up your computer...

im not a damn kid or newbie so dont talk to me like one ok? and thats BS btw buddy of mine has one in his yj on 40s and he a lot of power. bone stock 350 minus exhaust.
to the OP higher gears and mud tires help with mud. no need for a crap load of HP for no reason.

~200 HP and less torque is "*****" to you? Oh my.
These things aren't meant to have gobs of power. Its a 4.0 n/a I6. Why do you think everyone suggests gears? Not just for the added strength.
As for a turbo, I'd be careful unless you've got experience with turbos. It requires a hell of a lot more than a bolt-on turbo and some pipes. You need fuel upgrades, oil/coolant lines (both if you wanna be reliable), plenty of plumbing, some form of intercooler, not to mention plenty of other upgrades to the running gear.
Your best bet is a motor/trans swap. If you add serious power to the 4.0 its gonna cost money. Not just into the motor, the trans and prolly tcase as well.
In the end of the day, no matter what, its not gonna be cheap.
