Check your rig, XJ suspension contacts oil pan + tranny lines
Over the years and numerous XJs, I have discovered another common issue.
When passenger side front suspension is fully compressed, the passenger upper control arm can make contact with lip of oil pan and with transmission lines, pinching or crushing them.
In my opinion, everyone should check the condition of pan and transmission lines. The location is the front passenger corner of oil pan. In this picture of my 1996, you can see where the oil pan lip has been impacted and pushed upwards. Luckily the transmission lines were unaffected. I have seen much worse on other XJs.

Shove the bump stop through the spring
Line the new bump stop up in the holder
Use a flathead or something else as a lever to force the new bump stop up and in the holder using the coil for leverage

0 beers, 0 ours of sleep last night. Deadline on a work project.
The effect is pretty much the same!
No, I didn't drive to work today. Fortunately, I can work from home at my discretion.
I am seriously NOT in shape to be driving....
And now that a birthday bash for my daughter is done, off to bed!
We'uns old folks need our sleep!

I am enjoying this tread of elders. At 44, I'm not there yet, but do have Metamucil in the cabinet.
Stock bumps are called jounce bumpers. Come in two different diameters, there is a version that has a stud that threads into tower, and a version that is pressed in. Haven't figured out what years they correspond to.
The material is sponge like, rather than rubber.
