Cherokee Issues looking for some help.

So I've replaced the map sensor and re fuel pump, I tested the map sensor and it didn't seem to have pressure but neither did the fuel pump. I took it to a shop and they said it was the fuel pump after checking the pressure which gave no pressure. I replaced it a few days later and the issue consists. I'm stumped now but I guess I'll find out how to test the injectors pressure after I turn off my jeep and see what happens.

Also when I was running late for work I floored it all the way to work and half way I could smell gas so much that it made me dizzy and my hang over even worse haha. It doesn't have this smell when I'm not flooring it.

So it's still going on. I'm going to test the fuel pressure soon but in sure it hasn't changed. Low fuel pressure, new fuel pump and blew the fuel filter clean (was a bit of rubber in the filter) the gas still sucks and still struggles to start after it's been driven and turned off. Still can smell gas if I floor it for to long. I've replaced fuel pump, plugs, rotor in distributor. I've checked the map sensor, all the distributor parts (lines, rotor) and fuel filter all working. I think my fuel pump could be burning out (had this issue with another car from **** in the tank) any other reason I'd have very low fuel pressure but still have a starting jeep.

Might be a long shot, but have you checked for fuel leak in the line that runs along the frame under the drivers seat? When I first picked up my '96, there was a small leak in that line from all the corrosion over the years. It was leaking out from the top of the line, and since a good chunk of the floor is rusted away, the carpet is exposed in some areas. The gas was spraying right on to the bottom of the carpet so the gas smell inside the jeep would get really bad.
My symptoms were different, mainly a lack of power and bad MPG... I didn't have any starting issues, but it might be worth checking out.
Other than that idea, I'll leave the rest of the advice up to those that have worked on jeeps longer than I have. Best of luck figuring it out.

If theres no check engine light being illuminated for a few seconds at first start up . Remove gauge cluster and replace the bulb. Matter affect replace all cluster bulbs while your in there. Could be a previous owner removed it for a reason. Then you check for codes. Unless your happy buying every part left to replace . Sooner or later ya might get lucky .

Your light should be located here ....If it does not work it breaks the communication functions of ecm .When its functions resolved check codes with key on off method.
