hey guys i have a 94 cherokee with a 96 motor.....new coil, new crank sensor......no spark and wont start,,, i read the flashing check engine light, its saying 12, battery disconected? 54, distributer pickup ( wich im going to try next) and 55 wich means no code??? whats that mean no code?


its a field truck, so i was driving it offroad and she just shut down

55 is an end of code message. Kind of like "Stop" on old telegraph messages.

I'd suggest testing your stator (aka camshaft position sensor):

The sensor is a pretty cheap and easy item to replace.

Could be a bad distributor, but I would also check all your grounds. Also check the power wires going to the fuse panel on the fender.

dealing with the same problem,same codes, checking the stator/cam sensor/distributor coil pickup, inside the distributor, the write up at the link is a little confusing.
I put a voltmeter on my stator today it's getting 5v constant, but the signal wire voltage was weak ,the needle barely moved on the voltmeter when turning the engine by hand.
